Judges' Comments

Stockland’s Oceanside community exemplifies a truly modern, masterplanned, mixed-use development, resulting in the delivery of a highly vibrant beachside project.

The judges noted that the project’s underlying success was underpinned by the creation of the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct with its range of complementary health related businesses. The development of the Birtinya Shopping Centre and resultant investment in infrastructure has likewise provided a major employment generator.

The creation of Lake Kawana as a centrepiece resulted in the opportunity for a wide range of quality housing typologies and densities, including high-rise aged care and retirement living.

Stockland’s commitment to providing safe recreational networks was clearly evident throughout the estate including the provision of underpass linkage to Bokarina Beach for the long term health benefits of the community.

Oceanside was clearly considered to be an outstanding major contributor  to the ongoing development of the Sunshine Coast.
