PRESIDENT'S AWARD

Winner - The Terraces, Paddington by Presbyterian Aged Care and Cottee Parker Architects (NSW)

About the Winner

Simon Basheer, UDIA National President has given the President’s award to The Terraces, Paddington in NSW, developed and operated by Presbyterian Aged Care and Cottee Parker Architects.

This landmark project is a magnificent example of community engagement, sensitive master planning and quality delivery and represents a high-quality example of how a sensitive design can integrate the requirements of Heritage, Aged Care, Seniors Living and natural landscape to make a significant contribution to the improvement of an inner-city development site.

A vertically integrated senior’s village spread over 5 separate buildings on a state heritage site. Through outstanding design and delivery, the site was transformed into a quality lifestyle destination in a resort style setting and includes the 1848 Italianate Heritage home renewed and restored to seamlessly integrate into the overall masterplan – it has since become the development’s centrepiece.

Given the sensitivity of this site, a comprehensive community feedback process to gain stakeholder support from the community and government was arranged.

The project has lived up to all expectations and is a worthy winner of the 2021 UDIA National President’s award.
