About the Winner

Giorgi’s vision for Echelon’s iconic site was always about capturing the attention of the public by creating a landmark building with a sculptural form that now sits in this space.

The architecture of the building falls within the contemporary modern genre and the orientation of every space and floor was designed to capture the view. The site slope meant that the restaurant space could be elevated above the footpath, giving patrons an uninterrupted view of the river city and city beyond. 

With its angled concrete columns and cantilever design, Echelon’s striking modern architecture firmly positions it as an iconic project along the Swan River foreshore with strong interaction with the newly created Connect South Piazza. 

The judges commend Giorgi for sensitively overcoming significant construction issues arising from the project’s location and noted the innovative basement design to suit both residential and non-residential uses. The attention to detail, both in design and construction, ensured that the crafted luxury apartments were well received by discerning buyers.
