About the Winner

The sensitive design of the eight-story EI8HT building contains 52 private residences on the ocean front in Glenelg, adjacent one of Adelaide’s grandest heritage beach mansions, exemplifies the importance of site-specific design and creates a new identity for the precinct to strengthen Glenelg and the South Esplanade promenade as a premium residential address.

The benefit of Chasecrown being both architects and developers is highly evident in the design excellence and successful implementation of EI8HT Apartments.

The judges were highly impressed with the number of innovative and technically challenging design and engineering solutions which were incorporated into this design. Spacious floor plans designed to maximise ocean views, each incorporating generous balconies ensured the creation of apartments which transition residents from traditional detached housing to large apartment lifestyle homes.

EI8HT Apartments presents a contemporary and unique project in an urban setting exemplified by overwhelming positive feedback from residents. This project is well-suited to receive the inaugural Design Excellence award.
